Lupus Champion: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority

On Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Strikers Family Sports Center, The Zeta Rho Omega (ZRO) chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated bowled to combat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis in the 3rd Annual Strike for a Cure Bowling Tournament. Their team was comprised of Co-Chairmen, Keisha Harden, Dr. Lynette Johnson, Dr. Sylvia Jones, Dr. Margaretta Kearson, and the Health Committee. Other Greek letter organizations were in attendance as well ranging from Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Psi Phi, Zeta Phi Beta, and Kappa Alpha Psi, along with the Emerging Young leaders (raising $200) all supporting ZRO's efforts. The event was also open to the public with an individual entry fee of $25 for adults and $20 for children. This fee included two hours of bowling, shoes,food,soft drinks, a souvenir T-shirt, plus a charitable contribution to benefit the fight against lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.This tournament alone raised over $2000 for lupus awareness. A portion of these proceeds were given to the the LupusFoundation of America, Southeast Florida Chapter (LFA).
