May 4. Did you know that Florida has held the record the last 3 years of the most amount of landmarks that Light Up For Lupus for Lupus Awareness Month? Find the location nearest you and snap a photo. Post them online and include hashtag #lightup4lupusfl and tell people why we are lighting the state purple.
May 5. The Great Give is a 24-hour online giving event designed to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits in a single day. This year’s event will take place from 5pm on Tuesday, May 5 until 5pm on Wednesday, May 6. Great Give is a meaningful way to discover your giving power and raise awareness about this cruel and mysterious disease. You can be a Lupus Superhero by joining us in celebrating the spirit of charitable giving. Show your support today!
May 6. Get your local official (city commissioner, mayor, etc) to declare May as Lupus Awareness Month, Send them a letter about why it is important to you along with a copy of our sample proclamation. Ask them if they can present it to you and take lots of pictures. Send them to your local paper and make sure to send us a copy or a photo so we can add you and your community to our Lupus Aware Zone.
May 7. For a future with no lupus, we must make sure others know lupus. Post a video or picture telling others what you want them to KNOW about LUPUS. Tag us and use the hashtags #knowlupus and #lfafl
May 8. Mother's Day is Sunday! Donate in honor of the mother in your life.
May 9. Learn about the Foundation's research initiatives at lupusfl.org/research
May 10. May 10 is World Lupus Day – share this video from Julian Lennon, Lupus Foundation of America’s global ambassador, and visit www.worldlupusday.org to see what other groups around the world are doing this day.
May 11. Enter our Lupus Awareness Month Office Door Contest and get your co-workers in on the fun! Check out our own contest for inspiration on our Facebook page. Just email your entry to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 18 at 9am. Let us know what company you work for so we can give your company a shout out! We will post photos on our Facebook page on May 19. The photo with the most likes wins a $20 Visa gift card.
