Advocacy Webinar: Preparing for the Congressional August Recess

Join lupus activists from across the country and meet with your Senators and Representatives during their August Recess, a time when Members return to their states for their district work period. To help you prepare, the Lupus Foundation of America’s Advocacy Team will host a Grassroots Webinar, Preparing for August Recess, on July 22nd at 3:00pm Eastern or July 23rd at 6:00pm Eastern.

Meeting with federal legislators in their district in August is very effective.  Lupus activists joining the webinar will learn more about how to make a meeting with your elected officials or attend a town hall event, as well as hear about key issues impacting lupus that are important to discuss during your meetings.  Lupus activists will also receive training on the Lupus Foundation of America’s legislative priorities and basic advocacy principles.  The Advocacy Team will provide key talking points on lupus research funding and the Patients’ Access to Treatments Act (H.R. 460).

The webinar will be held twice (if there is enough interest) to accommodate a large audience.  Please register for the webinar noting your selected date (July 22 at 3:00pm Eastern or July 23 at 6:00pm Eastern) by emailing Lauren at governmentrelations@lupus.org by July 16, 2014.  All registrants will receive a follow-up email with additional information.  Thank you and we look forward to working together!
