The Advocacy Committee is responsible for raising awareness of lupus with our lawmakers in DC, Maryland and Virginia. The Advocacy Committee plans Lupus Awareness Days in the District of Columbia, Annapolis and Richmond, coordinates the Greater Washington region's involvement in the National Lupus Advocacy in DC and seeks opportunities to advocate for lupus research and education funding.
This committee provides marketing and public relations counsel to the Chapter, helps to publicize Chapter activities and elevates attention to the Chapter's educational programs and its support for local lupus patients and their families.
This committee is responsible for all Foundation fundraising and resource development programs, plans, and reports. The committee deals with all aspects of income development. Expertise is needed in corporate support, special events, grant writing and research, partnership development and annual giving.
This committee oversees the fiscal, personnel and administrative affairs of the foundation. The committee develops the foundation's budget and oversees the financial reporting and audit process.
Health Fair Committee
The committee works on the critical task of increasing public awareness about lupus as well as awareness of LFA, DC/MD/VA and the valuable free services that we provide. Contact Nalani Tarrant if you are interested in volunteering on this committee.
Medical Scientific Advisory Council
The MSAC provides input and advice to the Foundation on policy matters of medical interest. This committee provides speakers for public programs. The committee also oversees the development of content for these programs.
Patient Services Committee
This committee develops, implements and monitors comprehensive public education programs designed for lupus patients and their families.
Board of Directors
LFA, DC/MD/VA has a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of up to 15 volunteers. Board members are generally recruited from committee members who have actively participated in the work of the foundation through the previously mentioned committees.
