Q: When is the DC Walk?
A:Saturday, April 19th at 9am
Q: How do I sign up for the Walk?
A: Visit www.dclupuswalk.org when you can sign up as an individual or team.
Q: Does it cost money to register for the Walk?
A: We RECOMMEND that each individual makes a minimum donation of $25. Each individual raising $25 or more will receive an official LFA-DMV pin when they check-in.
Q: Where will the DC Walk start?
A: The DC Walk will begin at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. **NEW THIS YEAR: We will be located at the Wilson Plaza outside the Reagan Building, so pre and post-walk festivities will originate at this new location.
Q: How do I get there?
A: We recommend that you take metro. Our walk site is located along all major metro lines. Please use Federal Triangle for the blue or orange lines, Metro Center for the red line, and Archives-Navy Memorial for the green line. Metro opens at 7am on Saturday morning.
NOTE: The following stations will be closed on walk day, BLUE/ORANGE: Minnesota Avenue and Deanwood. Buses replace trains between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly & Benning Road. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
Q: Is there parking available?
A: Yes, there is limited street parking in the area, as well as many garages, but metro is still the best plan. If you choose to drive, we have partnered with the Ronald Reagan Building and their underground garage. The garage is open 24 hours and offers a special weekend rate of $13.00. Access to the garage is available via 14th Street, NW (north and south between Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue).
Q: When should I arrive?
A: Anytime after 7:30am. Be at the stage by 8:45am to warm-up with some Zumba.
Q: What do I do when I arrive?
A: If you have not pre-registered or have not already picked up your earned walk t-shirt or pin, please begin at the registration tent located in the street at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. If you have pre-registered, you can visit with vendors before heading to the stage for opening festivities.
Q: How early can I register?
A: The registration tent will be open by 7:45am, so registrants will have time before festivities kickoff at 9:00am.
Q: Will there be food and beverages served when I arrive?
A: Yes, light snacks and coffee will be provided but quantities are LIMITED, so please be prepared to bring your own snacks and beverages if you want to ensure the ability to eat and drink at the walk.
Q: Will you be providing water?
A: Yes. Thanks to a generous donation by Wegmans, we will have bottled water available before, during and after the walk. The water tent will be located within Wilson Plaza.
Q: Will you have any activities before or after the walk?
A: Yes! We will have activities for all ages, including face painters, mascots, a photo booth, vendors, snacks, beverages, DJ and dancing. **NEW THIS YEAR: We will have post-walk festivities with a live band, along with other various activities throughout the morning. Aria Pizza will also open within the Plaza, so enjoy an early lunch with your teammates and fellow walkers.
Q: Can anyone walk at the DC Walk for Lupus Now! event?
A: Yes, the walk is open to ALL ages. Children are welcome; strollers and all!
Q: Is the DC Walk cancelled if it rains?
A: No! We will be out there walking RAIN OR SHINE!
Q: Can I bring my own chairs or tent?
A: Yes, you can bring your own chairs if you want to ensure somewhere to sit, however you ARE PROHIBITED from bringing your own tent.
Q: How long is the walk route?
A: The entire route is about 1.5 miles, but you can feel free to walk the entire route or turn around at any point and come back at your leisure.
Q: What is the walk route?
A: The walk route originates at Wilson Plaza and we walk from 1300 Pennsylvania Ave, NW to the Capitol (3rd St and Pennsylvania Ave) and back. Walkers are encouraged to walk as much or as little as they would like and they can turn around at any point and go back to Wilson Plaza for post-walk festivities.
Q: How do I get one of those cool walk t-shirts?
A: Please make sure to raise at least $100 prior to the walk, or bring your donations to the walk, and all INDIVIDUAL participants raising $100 or more will receive a walk t-shirt at registration. Limit 1 t-shirt per person. Walk t-shirts ARE NOT FOR SALE.
Q: Will you be accepting donations at the walk?
A: YES! You can drop them off at registration.
Q: Do I need to have all my money turned in by walk day?
A: No. We will be collecting donations up until 6-8 weeks following the walk.
Q: Where can I mail in my donations?

Q: Will I receive any of my other incentive items at registration?
A: No, any other personal incentive items will be mailed 6-8 weeks following the walk. There is time to keep fundraising and earn a tote bag, umbrella, or picnic blanket!
